Grand View Vegetables does not use Glyphosate. Why is that important to you?

Glyphosate is a chemical used every year on more than a billion acres of conventionally raised crops.  It is the main active ingredient in products like Roundup.  This herbicide is sprayed on some GMO crops to control the weed pressure in the fields and in other instances to prepare the field for planting.  So why don’t we use this easy and (if you are to believe the manufacturers claims) ‘safe’ alternative to eliminating weeds?  In a nutshell several studies have shown that gyphosate may; increase cancer cell growth, cause genetic damage, cause hormonal disorders, and contaminate our groundwater and fresh water supplies.  Go to the links below to read more.

 1.       “Glyphosate Found to Fuel Cancer Cell Growth, Pose Carcinogenic Threat.”  Natural Society website, a study from Food and Chemical Toxicology, Volume 59, September 2013 found glyphosate was responsible for fueling breast cancer.

  2.       “Four laboratory studies published in the late 1990s demonstrated the ability of glyphosate and glyphosate-containing herbicide products to cause genetic damage.”

   3.       “There are 40 different studies that show Glyphosate is completely linked to Lymphoma non hodgkin’s lymphoma. 37 studies on DNA damage. 29 studies on the toxicity of Glyphosate. 24 studies on hormonal disorders in children. 22 on low testosterone. 21 on pesticide toxicity. 20 studies on hairy leukoplakia.”

  4.       Glyphosate contaminates groundwater supplies. Studies conducted by the US Geological Survey also found this herbicide in streams and rivers.

These and many other articles and studies are now reporting how damaging this chemical is to humans and the environment. One research scientist from MIT after showing a correlation between this chemical and autism stated “At today’s rate, by 2025, one in two children will be autistic.”

We don’t want it around us. We don’t want it around the food we eat, so we don’t want it around the vegetables we supply to you!
